My earliest memories are of Tasmania where, of course, swans are black. This caused me problems when I studied logic at university. The lecturer would start with teh proposition 'all swans are white', I'd immediately think,'no they are not' then remind myself that I was supposed to be studying philosohy not ornothology but by then I'd lost the thread of the lecture. I blame this for my poor grasp of logic.
As for Dick, photos and proof. The photo would either show a]that divers nest or b] someone is making a hoax. Assuming that b] can be checked, then the question is 'where was the photo taken?' I imagine witnesses could be produced to swear that: the photo was taken on Dick's camera, it was in his possession when he visited Scotland and that he indeed took pictures of nesting birds, believed to be divers whist there.Proof beyond reasonable doubt, I'd say. But as I said, I never could follow the logic lesson.
