A most engaging and well rounded character. Incidentally, do we take her to be another war widow - we hear of her brother, but not of her husband.
I also think that Port and Starboard are insufficiently regarded - their devotion to looking after their father seems quite well observed. Possibly they would have taken over the plot of BS and sorted things out too quickly so they had to be removed for that reason.
