Charcoal burning is a reference to the American pastime of grilling food outside on charcoal (and now also LP gas) grills. It is what my English friends refer to as barbecuing, although here in Wisconsin in the northern USA, we don't call it that unless we are using a barbecue sauce on chicken or beef or pork ribs while grilling them.

I hope that clears this up...
