Yes, I was present when a geocache was found, also at a Ransome site near Coniston, last September, on a TARS expedition. Actually, so was Robert! However, this one, as I recall, was discovered by the use of positioning equipment, GPS or similar. The finding that Robert describes was obviously lucky on the face of it, but is he sure that electronic kit was not surreptitiously used? Incidentally, I am told there are many geocaches hidden all over the place, but does anyone know how and where you get their position?
