In winter in H.K. it gets dark about 7:15, and in summer at 7:30.
The closer you get to the equator, the shorter the twilight, and the more symmetrical the timing of dawn and dusk. Filming an interview in a village in Zaire, I remember the daylight basically switching off at six; I just had to get a last few sentences from a chap, and we had no lights, nor was there any electricity available, and the dark shadow of the horizon simply crept up the chap's chest; I got the closing sentence just once, then it was too dark to do it again.
This was a 6 o'clock at night; at six in the morning, the daylight switched on again. There was no long tail to the day, as there is further north.
