It's interesting that the Lakes farmer thinks that reducing sheep numbers will create a bigger fire risk, as with less grass being grazed and thus kept short, it will grow longer and dry out to become more combustible: whereas in Yorkshire, Natural England want to reduce sheep numbers! This may be to stop the heather being eaten: but it might result in more fires.
