First off - many happy returns of the day! Did anyone give you an elephant and a lamb?

On the distance a light's visible, that always has me laughing when LED flashlights are billed as "visible for a mile". So? And can I see by their light more than 15 ft. ahead?

ISTR POWs used a "5x5" code for tapping between cells. Even if Morse was required for pilots, it wouldn't have been for gunners, etc. I suspect if there were any signallers/WOPs they would have used the double-tap though.
