'Best' edition of each book

What are your thoughts on the 'best' edition of each book?

-Early SA don't have Ransome's illustrations.
-I'm looking at a Jonathan Cape where the paper is beginning to get crumbly (definitely not archival quality)
-Godine does have archival paper but doesn't have the color maps plus the plates from Cape are getting rather worn so the illustrations look pretty bad

So, trying to account for all the possible issues, which editions stand out to you as superior?
