Looked at the Guardian which is online now for 1791 to 2003, and searchable with Proquest, it is ex the “Manchester Guardian” of course. A search of just the Guardian got 1265 hits for “Arthur Ransome”, and restricted to 1900-1968 there were still 911 hits. An earlier Arthur Ransome was at a meeting of the Manchester and Salford? Sanitary Association in the 1850s.

In a 1923 interview from Moscow by AR, Mr Litvinoff said that though the Soviet Union was exporting corn while locals were starving, well other (capitalist?) countries did the same.

Proquest is a subscription service at a local library, with “The Times” and some other British papers also available.
