I managed to chop off a half inch on each of two fingers of my starboard hand while in the Margoletta's engines' room. It hurt and there was lots of blood. The Admiral who was up in the forward cabins, brought a roll of paper towels and then drove me across the border to White Rock in Canada to an ER. After a week, we then managed a three week cruise on the San Juans visiting seven islands and several anchorages and little ports. Too soon old, but too late smart.
