I agree. Commander (Captain) Walker is too organized and naval. I could never understand why the Swallows looked forward so joyously to the time when Daddy could take charge. They didn't seem to realize their freedom would be strictly limited. It seems to me that all the maturity John had been gaining through the other books was surrendered in WDM when Daddy took the helm and steered back across the North Sea.
