But in that case the whole point is that he is not. He is there just enough... AR creates it all; he is the author, he is not driven by external forces, there is no story that he has to follow. So if he'd chosen to, he could have written a 'Daddy story'. But he never chose to do that, presumably for exactly that reason, that he wanted to write a story about the children's adventure. The formula had served him well so far...
