I think Robert is right - and AR came to regret moving geography around. Though combining the best bits of two islands to make one with everything is easy to understand (Having been on the look out for islands to take my children camping on, I can say that good ones are hard to find, at least in New Zealand. The flat ones are very flat; the hilly ones are so hilly you can't camp. But there are some fantastic lakes to sail on and the occasional hot pool is very welcome...)
Anyway, SW is accurate (the estuary is even called that now - does anyone know if the name came before the book?); PD seems accurate as far as the English part goes; WDMTGTS is so accurate that AR even sailed to Flushing to make sure his courses and timings were right. And I like to think that somewhere in the Scottish islands is a valley and house (conspic)
