I agree with ACB, after all the S&A series are primarily children's books (even if most Tarboardistas are like me, somewhat older) and not all children are white. Further, books are not sacred texts, changing a word doesn't change the holy order of the cosmos, it doesn't even change the editions we have already got. (But see a previous thread about Amazon, electronic books and copyright!)
Seems to me that, ACB wants AR to endure as a living tradition, not a fly in amber. Anyway having supported ACB with one hand I now want to castigate him with the other. Did I read your post correctly to the effect that you, an aficionado of AR, living in England have never been to the Lake District? And does this mean that your children have not been either? that's tantamount to child abuse in my book! Shame on you!
