Don’t forget Amazon (and Scarab) as well as Swallow; there is a sketch of Scarab in PM, which was made to be as near to Amazon as possible. When they first see Scarab at the boatbuilders (PM2) Dick says “Is she only thirteen feet?”. Then Nancy repeats CF’s joke about the only boatbuilder who was on time was Noah – because he would be drowned if he wasn’t!

I did not realise until reading Roger Wardale about “Nancy Blackett: Under Sail with Arthur Ransome” that there were two Lottie Blossoms, both commissioned. Also their troubles with boats and houses, often caused by Genia! Genia is why Arthur was one of Cape’s “difficult” authors, so left to Rupert Hart-Davis to look after.
