Like many of AR's locations I suspect there are a few borrowed elements. I understand there was some sort of structure along these lines at the head of the lake, but I also feel it is likely Ruskin's lantern room played a part (I'm always intrigued by the vivid description of the elderly gentleman who's viewhouse it was: a piece of exposition almost unique in the SA series).
