I just sent an email to Tony Richards, of

www.lakelandcam.co.uk

fame, respoding to a recent offering of his.

Thought I'd copy that message here.

Tony -

I see today (Sunday) a fan of yours contributed a photo of

"Blea Tarn near Beckfoot station",

a name that, as a rabid Arthur Ransome fan, caught my attention, as "BECKFOOT" is the name given to the residence of Nancy and Peggy Blackette, the "Amazon Pirates" in his stories. At least, I thought this was just a "made up" name, yet now, I see a reference to a real place called "BECKFOOT".

Does this mean that a "BECKFOOT" really does exist?

Ransome's adventures seem to get more and more real, but they were always "real" to me.

Thanks AGAIN for making the Lake District even more real to me, with your daily offerings, which at the latest count is at 13,526 fantastic views in my collection.
