The name "Beckfoot" is also a simple description--at the foot of the beck, or stream. I would expect many Beckfoots to exist, as i would also expect to find multiples of other descriptive names, such as "Church Lane", "Fell Farm", "Lakeside".

AR certainly made heavy use of the locally known names in his books, moving them physically to suit his story line. It's possible once he decided that the Amazons must have a decent-sized beck flowing alongside their house in order to launch their various attacks and sorties, AR realized the local name "Beckfoot" worked perfectly for the name of the house.
