The boat is a Hurley 26. I don't know much about them, but it reminds me of the type of boats that Chay Blyth and John Ridgway took on the Golden Globe - both gave up very quickly bargely because the boats were so unsuitable, and would have proved more so in the Southern Ocean. I don't know whether Laura plans to go that way, or cut through the Panama Canal as I think (might be wrong) Mike Perham did.
There are a great many ifs and bust about such a project, but I was impressed to discover that Laura had single-handed her boat across to Lowestoft. Shads of WD indeed!
