Robert -

I am delighted with the results of your efforts to show REALITY, that could be considered as similar to the NP in fiction. It has been added to my WH related collection, to take its place among those treasured views.

Of course it is not the REAL NP, as that existed only in the mind of the author, and resulting from his skill with words and his own line drawings, the real NP exists also in my mind, where it takes on a personna of reality that becomes truth of the matter to me.

So meny times, Ransome fans have asked, "Are they real?" They do become that way, to us, as our dear friends. And with that feeling of "they are real" it certainly makes sense that we want to see the "real place" where they had their adventures - so we search for the REAL Wild Cat Island, for the REAL Swallowdale, for the REAL Goblin, the real Beckfoot, the real SWALLOW, and yes, the real North Pole. But we must be satisfied that, whatever we find, it is not completely like the image in my mind, as that indeed is the REAL image.

It is somewhat like watching a movie, having read the book, and realizing that things have been changed, the places are not quite as i had imagined them to be when I read their descriptions. Some events have been skipped. Stuff gets added that was not in the book - and we feel somehow unsatisfied because what is on the screen does not go along with the mental image I had come to know and love, and to expect.

I am indeed impressed with your skill at "photoshoppery" as you call it.
Would never even think of trying to change it one bit. Thanks for adding to my little private world of "All Things Ransome."
