My specific scan was for "or course" - and was quite amazed how MANY of those showed up, whether they be the result of my own clutzy typing, or of my faithful copying of what I saw printed. Now it makes me wonder, how many other "r" entries were made, that due to worn printer plates, should have been "f" and I just did not notice. Cannot hardly scan for "r" - totally non productive results, being so many. As for my own errors, it is easy for the fingernail to snag the "r" while I think I am hitting "f". I do spent a lot of time going back over these TXT files, and do find oddities now and then. Each time, I am amazed that I am just now seeing those simple errors, that they had escaped my eye on previous readings. Too bad I cannot pass out these to others, so another set of eyes can see those errors. I'm working on it, and trying to get these to be as error free as I can, but perfection in this is very likely unobtainable. But when you consider that checking for erros is really just another reason for me to read a Ransome book, hey, that does not sound so bad after all, as it becomes a labour of love.
The problem with me doing these re-readings is, I am looking on the computer at my TXT versions, so I don't get to see the illustrations that would come to the eye if I were reading the actual books themselves.
But I do get to know my childhood friends even better, each time. Nothing wrong with that.
