This one has always been the scariest for me, but as an after-thought, the way AR let Titty feel Susan's & John's fear for them after the fact. Unfolding the story so matter-of-factly during the the most dangerous time, while the youngers were actually IN the mine & knew there had been a cave-in, with the fear of the elders building only when the reader already KNOWS the youngers are safe, shows AR's incredible story-telling skills!
