The wade never struck me as dangerous.
Roger and Bridget could sit on top one of the posts and Titty could hold onto the other until the water rose enough for her to clamber up by herself or until it went back down.
Besides she was tall enough it wasn't clear she would have to swim at all, just stand by the post.
