I have just read section 3 of "The Hoofmarks of the Faun" for the first time, and wondered who Peter Swainson is. AR wrote a short critique/biography, saying that he had written one book and died too young (as if he really valued him as an author).

I'm always curious when AR mentions a book title or author he liked, but nowhere on the Internet can I find any mention of "By The Roadside" (which I think is the book's title) from 1909.

AR seems to have gone to great legnths to track down the gypsies who were with Swainson when he died, and I wondered why this friend was highly valued. I almost though it might be the same felt hat wearing chap AR describes in "Bohemia In London" as the timing and mention of blue eyes is similar, but the description of the first meeting between the two men does not match.

Just thought I would ask...
