I've always felt that P & S, ever ready to drop everything to oblige their AP, are among the more sympathetic of Ransome's characters. One of my grumbles about BS is that it happens while P & S are away at school.
In CC they have their own sub-plot, their adventurous and suspenseful boat-hopping pursuit of the Teasel. This introduces the Broads' community of commercial boat owners and sets up the Come Along for its later starring role. Besides, P & S balance poor Dorothea who is otherwise the only girl around.
