You are right, Peter. In his working note Ransome says Titmouse is a sort of 'Cocky-bonddhu'!
Tom, his 'Principal Boy' of Coot Club is rather lacking in depth, mainly i suspect that no matter how he had planned the stories, Tom (and the twins) had to give centre stage to the Ds in CC and the D&Gs in BS.
I have been searching for any mention of an encounter with a possible Tom. The best that I could find was a mention of meeting a 'proud' boy sailing in an 8ft pram dinghy during the 1933 cruise. The lad must have made an impression for AR to have made an entry in the log.
