Lanehead - yes, the owners do have Lottery obligations, but these will be waived if the property is sold to another charity as an outdoor centre. That would give the Arthur Ransome Trust a pecuniary advantage over a non-charity purchaser, but a large sum has nevertheless to be raised. As to public appeals, remember that this is not a 'rescue' case. ART is not trying to 'save' the building from demolition or anything like that, and to the outside world this inevitably lessens the interest and urgency. To the narrower world of AR lovers, though, it is urgent alright - possibly the last chance for a generation to 'save' this iconic building for occupation by AR devotees doing AR activities and studying and commemorating the Great Man. The Trust has not given up, but time is running out . . .
