Modelers tend to put aircraft of any kind (military or civilian) in their own category; "Military" deals with land vehicles the other popular "military" scale, which civilian vehicles likewise use, is 1/32 (aircraft have been known to be offered in this scale as well, though for more recent types that gives you a huge model); the 1/76 scale is especially popular with war-gamers. Ships and boats, likewise are a separate category, even if armed; 1/600 and 1/1200 are common scales there.
