Weird! The whole point of print-on-demand is that a single book can be printed in just a few minutes. Amazon automate the whole process from purchase to delivery. Perhaps this particular book is handled by another publisher. I doubt it will take more than a day or two overall.
I think it is correct to say that most avid Ransome fans would want to read 'Elixir', even if they were forewarned it was tosh. Some of us are so rabid we will read anything even vaugely related to our hero, and not consider the time wasted even when the book was not enjoyable.
I have read about 50% of the Mariners Library series so far, and have to confess I wasn't thrilled by all of the books. However, my Ransome mania meant that I still wanted to read each one and take away something useful from it on my quest.
