Thank you for your comments. As I have pointed out it's interesting to re-read the books and other people's views offer further insights.
As PM is the one of the series I have read the least (once I think when I was a teenager), I did try again a year or two back so when it's turn comes in the cycle I will make more effort! As does give a different view of the GA from your comments.
Once again, much of AR's own life seems to act as a foundation for a lot in the books that is only ever hinted at!
