Was it ever revealed in any of AR’s writings whether Nancy’s full name was Ruth Nancy Blackett and she chose to use her second name when Uncle Jim told her pirates are ruthless, or was the name chosen from elsewhere? Her immediate family, with the obvious exception of the GA seem comfortable using it. Today Nancy is often used as a term of derision, as I believe it was in the 40s e.g. referring to someone as a “nancy boy”.
