Yet Big Six was written in 1940.

I agree Big Six is a police procedural, I am rereading it slowly at the moment, but it is not in my mind his best, second maybe but not best, one of SA, SW, WDMTGS or PM is best, changes from year to year.

In my "teenage mind" Dorothy is the perfect woman, except for my Cousin, who is so close to Dot that it is not funny.
