Perhaps this thread illustrates why there is a move afoot to abolish the apostrophe. I, personaly, have had little trouble in deciding where to stick them in, but some do apparently.
Well there is little trouble if you follow the singular/plural rule, and if that is the only point at issue. But for the dog's/dogs' home it does depend on how many dogs are involved, which itself depends on AR's intent- not a simple question when the Cape editions have both versions. Unless we know the origin of the name in AR's mind, we can't know which is right. After all, the Cape typesetters are human too. It looks like a mistake, but which mistake?
