A comparison of my (ex-library) Red Fox editions of “Coot Club” and “Swallows and Amazons for Ever” shows (counting from the first to last pages of text, but including pages with illustrations) ) that CC has 403 pages while the abridgement has only 190 pages. Chapter 20 or XX, “While the wind holds” has dropped from 10 pages to 3 (really 2½) pages.
