And even houses have names!

Over my dead body. I like numbers. But I get your point about the post. I have an internet friend who lives in Tok, Alaska so no cheap flights. Tok was once a construction camp on the Alaska Highway, is visitable via Google Street View; 1400 inhabitants in the middle of a huge nowhere of Sitka forest and mountains. They have no post office or any local administration so they collect their mail from a local drop-off. Deliveries by DHL exist, but there were no street names or house numbers which made it all rather difficult. So they have collectively set about creating their own names and numbers. Frontier stuff. I admire them all; one of her summer jobs was part-time jailer- they have a drunk tank. I'm really sorry that I'll never meet her...
