Can any old salts/coots foresee any snags if I carefully saw off a vertical cross-section at the stern of a wooden open canoe and fix in a small but solid transom? It's for secure rudder attachment and also to provide a mount for a tiny outboard occasionally. The severed section will be replaceable (on wooden dowels) for aesthetic appeal when using the canoe simply as a paddling-boat. Is it a potty scheme...or am I little short of a genius?
