Ragged Robin III is a 5.5 ton Hillyard, originally built for Arthur Ransome in 1951, and named Lottie Blossom by him. After a season, he decided she wasn't suitable for him, and he sold her on the condition that her name was changed (so that he could use it for his new Hillyard!). The Ransomes sailed her mainly around the South Coast of England, but Ransome was suffering from prostrate trouble at the time, and they were unable to make as much use of her as they might have liked!
Ragged Robin III has been maintained with much care and consideration of her origins as a "Ransome Yacht", and it is with much regret that we have decided to sell her. However, it is our priority that she goes to a home which will take heed of her historic origins, and continue to care for her appropriately.
Ragged Robin III is a centre-cockpit sloop, 27 feet long, with a canoe stern. We are looking to sell her for around £16,000 sterling. If anyone is interested, please contact me at our hotmail address, timandrachel@hotmail.com as soon as you can!
