I 'discovered' the books as copies of some of them had been bought for my brother who was four years older than me, I can remember being around but I didn't take any notice until later after he had died - I was seven and this was in 1960. Who bought them for him I don't know, one regret is that the dustwrappers were long gone - I only saw them in bookshops when I was older.

He had copies of SA, PD & ML - which is why when I was later given SD I was confused by the references to Peter Duck!

My maternal grandfather had a copy of Racundra's First Cruise which I was disappointed to find had no connection with the stories I had read (in the sense that they it was not a story and did not feature the characters I had become familiar with). I now realise it was probably a first edition and has long since gone.
