Peggy as a familiar form of Margaret is widely known and used throughout the English-speaking world, and not confined to the Blackett family, so the Billies would think it perfectly normal to use it.

On the other hand, Ruth Blackett's insistence on being called Nancy would be seen as a personal peculiarity, which she would probably not mention to adults except those she knew reasonably well.
