For anyone who read Cheaper By the Dozen and the follow-up Belles on Their Toes, about the Gilbreth family- there's a lovely bit about the girls pushing back on bathing dresses with skirts and demanding actual one-pieces. (Do yourself a favor- ignore the movie!)
