South Norwood of South London fame is claiming the name as it has two stretches of water named lake to the existing Lake District's one.
This does pose interesting possibilities. Did the D's - who were Londoners - go to the wrong place in WH? Much better tobogganing in the area. The run down Dog Kennel Hill, avoiding the frequent tram service of the time, would have been more fun than anything available up north.
Possibly the observant will consider the date that this press release was picked up by the dozy news gathering organisations.
