One problem is that they are (see previous threads on here) and secondly, what does it matter? For me the politics were not an issue (and I was a politically aware child - my paternal grandfather was a life long member of the Labour party, his father was a founding member and his sister a Communist - whereas my paternal grandmother was a committed Conservative!) The books were a good read and represented what I wanted my childhood to be like (for other reasons.)
