I am about three quarters of the way through reading SW to my 5 year old son, having preceded it with WD.
As a boy, and as recently as two or three years ago when I read it to my daughter, I always regarded it as a poor follow up to WD and really a rather pointless book. This latest reading has made me revise my opinion completely and I am now utterly beguiled by its muddy mystique!
It is surely the most "psychological" of the whole canon; maybe one needs to be fairly geriatric to appreciate it. Or maybe it's just that only a parent of small children can really recognise and appreciate Bridget.
I would be interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience.
