Adam -

That is also what the online translations service I eventually found came back with. It sounds snappier than the title that Peter had concerns about, and is to me an acceptable title for the book. Hans served for a while as the Dutch navy's liaison officer with the US Navy so his English (American?) is first class, helped by his Scottish wife of course.

What does your friend feel about the name Tientje? The original name has unfortunate connotations in English, but perhaps modified by the existence of similar sounding names. For example my neighbour's children are Tilly (aged three) and Kitty (aged 0). If there are no similar sounding names in Dutch then maybe Tientje as an old-fashionned traditional name is better. Or are all the original English names being used rather than Jan, Rutger and Suze. A question for Peter!

Rob
