I've never studied Anglo-Saxon and was unaware that there was a dispute over the meaning of the first word of Beowulf.

But I am an admirer of the late great Oliver Postgate and his several animated TV series, especially Noggin the Nog.

I seem to remember that in some series, each episode began with the formula "Listen, and I will tell you more of the saga of Noggin the Nog...".

So possibly that represents his view on the controversy.
