While I personally have not been part of a cliff rescue of a sheep, my colleagues in the mountain rescue team certainly have. On one occasion, a sheep was stuck above Peak Cavern in Debyshire. Just as the rescuer got to it, the sheep jumped, landed, then ran off, with just a broken horn. I have, however, been lowered down an old lead mine shaft to rescue a lamb. It kept running from me, so rather than chase it down a tunnel, the safety of which I was uncertain, I stood and bleated like a ewe! The lamb came right up to me and I grabbed it quick. We were then hauled out of the mine shaft, much to my relief!!!!
