Interesting how the later Lakes books seem to be favourites (okay, WD and SW don't fit the 'Lakes' bit). D'you suppose that maybe AR got more skilful as he went along?
Of course, GN spoils that thought, but I never felt that GN had much enthusiasm behind it. It was the only one that I never managed to read right through. I really do think that he'd have done better to stop one book earlier...
