That may be true. We do know that AR and Evgenia voyaged to Alexandria early in 1932 (the year he wrote PD) aboard the steamer Scottish Prince and in the Autobiography he describes "plodding down the Portuguese coast". It was apparently Evgenia's first sea passage since the Baltic. However, this wasn't "sailing" in the PD sense. Did AR actually "sail" down the Channel when much younger? I don't recall anything in the Autobiography about this.
