I use Ten Four Fox (a Firefox derivative for steam-age Apple Macs) as my browser. Like Firefox it comes with a spell checker, though its built-in dictionary checks conformance with spelling practice in the USA. As most of the stuff that I write is intended to be read in the UK or in Poland I have downloaded the dictionaries for British English and Polish and toggle between the two depending on my target audience.

Peter's question raises another interesting point – to what extent should we be thinking of new features for TarBoard? I love TarBoard and the way it works. It reminds me of one of those old-fashioned boat builders sheds where all the boats are made of wood and copper rivets and everybody downs tools for the tea break.

I am told by those who know all about such things that we need new features to appeal to the next generation of Ransomites. They expect automatic links to Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, et al and a much simpler way of adding links to the outside world.

But new features cannot easily be added to Ian's venerable code. And who would want to much around with a classic boat? A new TarBoard has been mooted: sleeker, faster, but built of fibreglass. Boatbuilders, as you may know, proceed but slowly, and so all Ancient Mariners will be able to enjoy the classic TarBoard for a while yet.
