I was lucky enough to come to know Taqui quite well. She was not the least sophisticated, I would have said. She had a small flat not far from Kings Cross Station, and near University College Hospital, that I visited several times, and like Titty's home, she had some of her pastals on display and .
When we spent a few days in the Lakes going round the sites, (Steamboat Mus. Wild Cat, Trout Tarn, etc) she wore an anorak, trainers and bright black and yellow patterned trousers! I wish I could post a photo! She stayed with me for the Chichester AGM and 'being on show', did dress more conservatively.
I visited her and her son, after Taqui had been admitted into a home, within a few months of her death when she was suffering from loss of memory. It was very sad to see such a vital, lively person so stricken.
